PRINTERS COMPATIBLE WITH INNKEEPER

InnGrid Innkeeper / InnManager / Perfect Stay will print to LPT1, USB or TCP-IP. Laser, dot-matrix or inkjet printing is supported. However the CAPA PMS/POS works only with stand-alone "smart" printers -- not Windows-only printers (WinPrinters.) The printer must be able to print with its own internal driver and cannot rely on Windows to perform its task. This means that the printer needs to have its own buffer memory and be able to print regardless of what the workstation or server is doing.

The printer must be able to support one of the "standard" protocols, such as:

  • Epson FX80
  • IBM Proprinter
  • PCL 3 or higher
Most modern printers have emulation modes that will emulate one of these types. HP, Brother, Okidata, Samsung, Kyocera (Mita), along with most high-end printers, offer printers that support one or more of these drivers. HP supports only the PCL driver.

What follows is a partial list of printers that will work. This list is by no means complete and does not necessarily show the latest modes. If you have any questions regarding printer compatability, contact CAPA.


Point of Sale printers are printers that offer services for any operating system, and DO NOT REQUIRE WINDOWS to print. InnKeeper/InnManager/Perfect Stay all require a printer that has it owns software and drivers.


Speed and flexibility at a front desk demand a printer that has its own drivers and memory so that the PC terminals are not used to perform the printing. Also, occasionally the system has to support dot-matrix (for special forms) and non-dot-matrix (laser, ink jet) printers simultaneously.

The Okidata 14e/14ex laser printers offer some special features that are particularly handy for front desk operations:

            - supports HP/IBM/Epson codes for greater flexibility

            - support an auto-ejection timers for “print screens”

            - supports long or no power saver for better operations

 

If you have other systems i.e. a dining POS that is Unix, etc. then the Okidata is the best choice!
