MS-Dos Application will not print when printing to a network computer

The information in this article applies to:

 A Windows XP, 2000 based operating system does not capture a printer port for dos when using a network printer. If you are trying to print a Dos print job to a Windows XP, 2000 based Computer from accross a network you need to either run the following line from the command prompt or create a batch file to do it for you.

  • net use lpt1 \\printserver\sharename /persistent:yes

    You will need to this only when you restart the computer.
